Eid al-Adha get-together
Prophet Abraham’s Perseverance
Prophet Abraham is known as the first Divine ardent lover. He endured countless trials and sufferings on the path of Faqr. His whole life is full of sacrifices, however Allah liked one of his sacrifices so much that he ordered the Muslims to repeat that every year and as such made it eternal.
For most part of his life, Prophet Abraham didn’t have any children. Allah blessed him with a son in old age. However, as a trial Allah ordered him to sacrifice his only child in His way. It was an extremely tough trial that is hard to explain in words. However, by the grace of Allah, Prophet Abraham succeeded in this test. He took his son (Prophet Ishmael) to a remote place to fulfil Allah order. He was just about to cut his throat but Allah replaced his son with a sheep that got slaughtered instead.
Allah never wanted to His beloved to sacrifice his son, instead it was a test of Prophet Abraham’s love for Allah. Allah was so pleased with Prophet Abraham’s steadfastness in His love that he made his sacrifice eternal by making it Eid for the Muslims until the doomsday and ordered them to slaughter an animal (that meets the requirements of Islamic ritual) on this occasion every year. This occasion is known as Eid al-Adha or Eid Qurban.
Eid is an occasion of happiness that Muslims around the world celebrate in different ways. Islam is a complete way of life that teaches us to live our lives within the bounds set by Allah Almighty. The best role model for the believers about how they should celebrate such occasions is a perfect Fakir.
Eid Gathering at the Khanqah
Dear readers! Let us give you an account of the Eid celebration that took place in the Khanqah of the current Shaikh of the Sarwari Qadri order and perfect Fakir and the representative of the Holy Prophet in current era, Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen Sultan Muhammad Najib-ur-Rehman to give you a glimpse into how Allah’s beloved celebrate such festivals.
Eid get-together was organised on Monday 12th August 2019 at the Khanqah of Sarwari Qadri order to celebrate Eid al-Adha. After Eid prayer, twenty goats were slaughtered in Sunna of Prophet Abraham. Due to most people being occupied with slaughtering of the animals during the day, it was decided to plan the get-together of Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen with the devotees in the evening. According to the occasion, the Khanqah was beautifully decorated. Along with the Khanqah, the Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen House was also decorated with lighting.
The devotees began arriving following Asr prayer. There was a lot of hustle and bustle in the Khanqah throughout the day due to devotees arriving from throughout the country. On the other hand women and children were gathering at Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen House.
Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen Greeted the Female Disciples
Following Maghrib prayer, Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen met female disciples at his residence. He congratulated them on the occasion of Eid. Following that he left his residence for the Khanqah where the male disciples were waiting eagerly. The male disciples stood along Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen’s way to the Khanqah to welcome him.
Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen’s son and his spiritual successor Sahibzada Sultan Muhammad Murtaza Najib stood at the entrance to the Khanqah to welcome his father and spiritual guide. Along with him were Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen’s other two spiritual successors; Abdullah Iqbal and Dr. Hasnain Mehboob. The head of Tehreek Dawat-e-Faqr Muhammad Naeem Abbas was also present to welcome Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen. Everyone present on the occasion was waiting for their beloved spiritual guide with utmost respect and love. This kind of respect can only be seen in the court of a perfect Fakir because their love and respect is not for the materialistic gains but to attain gnosis and closeness of Allah.
Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen’s Arrival and Welcome
It was around 8 pm when Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen arrived at the Khanqah. He was wearing white dress with a green waistcoat and golden Khussa. Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen was looking very charismatic and impressive in his attire. It felt as if Allah had planned the gathering to happen in the evening such that the people would get a glimpse of the theophanies manifesting through the perfect Fakir’s persona.
First of all, Naeem Abbas welcomed Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen and presented a bouquet of flowers. Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen warmly embraced him. Following that, Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen warmly met with Sahibzada Muhammad Murtaza Najib, Dr. Hasnain Mehboob and Muhammad Abdullah Iqbal who also presented bouquets of flowers. Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen gradually moved towards his seat on the stage. Once settled on the stage, he met with the devotees individually and greeted them on the occasion of Eid. This included people of all ages, young, old and the children. Naeem Abbas then formally commenced the ceremony when Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen and the disciples were seated.
Proceedings of the Ceremony
The disciples sat in front of Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen with utmost respect to get their inwards enlightened through his perfect spiritual glance. Naeem Abbas greeted all the attendees on behalf of Tehreek Dawat-e-Faqr. He commenced the session with the following verse written by Amir Khusrow and then invited Mawlana Muhammad Aslam to recite few verses from the Holy Quran:
عید گاہ ما غریباں کوے تو
انبساط عید دیدن روے تو
Explanation: Our (seekers of Allah) Eid is in fact to come to your door step. The real happiness of Eid is to actually behold your sacred face.
Mawlana Muhammad Aslam recited few verses from the Holy Quran and then addressed the audience. According to the occasion, he educated the people on the importance of the Sunna of Prophet Abraham and how that relates to the seekers of Allah on the path of Faqr. Following Quran recitation, Naeem Abbas invited Mohsin Raza to read a eulogy in praise of Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen. He read the following eulogy written by Mirza Suleman SQ:
اے حبیب خدا، اے ابو المرتضی
رب کے سب عاشقوں کا تو سلطان ہے
The audience highly appreciated the eulogy and chanted slogans in praise of Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen. After the eulogy, Mawlana Muhammad Aslam made a supplication.
Brief Address by Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen
In the end, Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen briefly addressed the audience to explain the true meaning of Eid al-Adha and the reason behind sacrificing an animal which is in fact to sacrifice one’s innerself i.e. to overcome sensual desires and sacrifice everything in the way of Allah to gain His pleasure and closeness. He related this to his own experience. When he took oath of allegiance on the sacred hand of his spiritual Master Sultan-ul-Faqr VI Sultan Muhammad Asghar Ali, he was well-off financially. Allah had blessed him with everything that one can desire. Gradually, he sacrificed everything he had on his spiritual Master.
The year when his spiritual guide passed away, he was not even Sahib-e-Nisab meaning he didn’t have enough in terms of wealth and belongings that makes one bound to slaughter an animal on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and so that year he couldn’t even buy an animal for this purpose. This was the level of his love and sincerity with his spiritual guide and his perseverance on the path of Faqr. By sacrificing all he had for his spiritual guide, Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen set a new example for the seekers of Allah to follow. During his address to the audience, he stressed on the need to sacrifice one’s innerself as without that one cannot reach their destination in Faqr which is gnosis of Allah, presence in Muhammadan Assembly and Divine vision.
Departure from the Khanqah
During final supplication, a caravan from Bachian Mandi arrived. Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen met with them all individually. He then departed from the mehfil.
There was a special meal prepared for the attendees. After Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen’s departure, the devotees sat in the Khanqah for dining. They all enjoyed the special meal and thus this blessed gathering came to an end.
